Marillion was founded in 1979 in Aylesbury. With frontman Derek William Dick (Fish, until 1988) the band was one of the most influential bands of the Neo-Prog. Since 1988 Steve Hogarth is singer of Marillion. He brought the band a new, very independent singing style, which is due to his special breathing technique. His vocal lines often sound "floating" or "breathed". With the albums Anoraknophobia and Marbles Marillion introduced an innovative business model. In order to be able to produce the albums independently, the fans pre-financed them several months in advance. As a reward, the pre-orderers received additional material. Since 1998 Marillion have been giving a CD as a Christmas present every year to their fans organised in fan clubs,. Christmas tours take place on an irregular basis, during which Christmas carols are also performed. On 23 September 2016 the studio album "F.E.A.R." was released. (Fuck everyone and run). Members of Marillion are Steve Hogarth, Pete Trewavas, Mark Kelly, Ian Mosley, Steve Rothery
